Biographical / Historical Note

A collection of 444 booklets. Most of them made and published in the late 1920s, early 1930s. The subjects ranges from friendly animal stories and everyday things in the life of a child to pedagogical texts and political subjects as Lenin, the Soviets and 1st-of-May celebrations. Many well known artists played an important role in the development of the children's book. In this collection you can find for instance Vladimir Majakovskij, Kornej Chukovskij, Samuil Marshak and Daniil Charms. We also mention a few illustrators : Vladimir Lebedev, Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Dejneka and Vera Ermolaeva.

Arrangement

The collection is transcribed according to English transcription rules. A small addition is transcribed according to rules of scientific translation.
